Graham is Managing Director of Prest Financial Planning, having been with the firm since 1985. Graham is the son of the business founder, Jim Prest, and the driving force behind the firm on a day-to-day basis. Graham’s expertise extends to business and taxation planning as well as investments, pensions, wealth management in general and inheritance tax planning. He also specialises in SIPP/SSAS arrangements including pension property purchase.
Graham is a specialist adviser in the field of green and ethical investments and deals in particular with all financial aspects of businesses and high net worth individuals. Graham and his partner Patricia have five children between them and they both enjoy spending time in Portugal where they have a villa. When closer to home, Graham remains an avid follower of Manchester United FC and is a keen (although increasingly incompetent) golfer when he manages to make it out of the office and onto the course.
Mark joined Prest Financial Planning in 1986 and was later invited to become Director of the Company in 1999. Following many years of study, Mark attained Chartered Status in November 2011. He then went on to attain his fellowship of the CII in 2012, which is universally regarded as the premier qualification for those working within the financial services industry.
Mark specialises in all areas of financial planning, including taxation and trusts, retirement planning, and all forms of investment and savings advice. Mark also enjoys more complex financial planning needs, leading him to assist many individuals in the medical profession.
Originally from Manchester, Mark now lives in Prestbury with his wife Lisa and their 3 children. In his spare time, Mark enjoys keeping fit either in the gym or playing football regularly. He’s also a long time Man City supporter, so has experienced the suffering as well as their more recent victories!
Jan joined Prest Financial Planning in 2010 and became a Director in July 2014.
Jan achieved Chartered Financial Planner status in June 2014, and has been practicing as an Independent Financial Adviser since 2003.
Jan advises on all aspects of financial planning needs for individual and corporate clients, including pensions, investments, inheritance tax planning and protection and has forged strong relationships with local Accountancy practices and professional connections who feel their clients would benefit from financial planning.
Jan and his wife Debbie are kept busy with their 2 young children, Penny and Theo. In his spare time Jan enjoys playing golf, watching football and keeping fit.
Ian forged a career in Financial Services in 1989 and joined Prest Financial Planning 3 years later to work alongside his father, John Drew. When John retired, Ian continued with his time at Prest’s where he has now worked alongside Graham and Mark for more than a quarter of a century.
Ian has achieved the Diploma in Financial Planning and has a wealth of experience in dealing with individuals and also businesses. Ian’s expertise includes pensions, investments and inheritance tax planning. Ian also offers mortgage and life assurance advice.
Away from work, Ian spends time organising events in support of his children’s charity, the Aimee Drew Trust, as well as performing his alter ego as a 1970’s DJ! It was due to Ian’s commitment to his Charity that he was recently invited to 10 Downing Street to meet George Osborne in recognition of his work. Ian is a keen sportsman with a love of football. Ian has 2 sons, Jack and Harrison and lives in Marple with his wife, Joanne.
Initially Steve trained and worked as an accountant in commerce and industry. He then moved into Financial Services in 1986 as a client adviser for an insurance company.
In 1990, Steve joined a national firm of financial advisers, providing advice to corporate clients and their directors. Steve has been an IFA ever since, and now specialises in advising clients in the approach to, and throughout their retirement.
Steve has significant experience in many aspects of financial planning and is often called upon to combine clients investments with strategies to mitigate the potential effects of inheritance tax on estates. He also provides advice to elderly clients and has passed the Chartered Insurance Institute’s examination in long term care insurance.
Steve is Financial Planning Diploma qualified and is also a pension transfer specialist. He is an affiliate of STEP, which is the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Steve lives in Poynton with his wife Anne and between them they have 5 children and 4 grandchildren.
Joe has a wealth of knowledge and experience gained over 15 years in financial services. After completing his Economics degree in 2001, his career began in mortgages, moving into investments with a major bank and latterly at a large life and pensions office supporting law firms in Greater Manchester.
As a Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) accredited specialist, Joe is committed to ensuring his clients receive the highest levels of advice. Joe achieved Chartered Financial Planning status in 2013 and went on to achieve Fellowship in 2016. He uses his knowledge to inform and advise clients on investments, inheritance tax planning, retirement planning, equity release and long term care fees planning utilising advanced cash flow planning techniques. Joe is also a qualified pension transfer specialist.
Outside of work, Joe’s time is largely spent with his wife Maxine and their three young children, Miles, Blake and Mia. When the family are not keeping him busy he really enjoys a round of golf.
Mike began his career in Financial Services with Royal London in 2001 where he attained his initial advisory qualifications before gaining experience at the CIS and Skipton Building Society. Then followed a 10 year career at Close Brothers where he completed his Diploma in Financial Planning, prior to joining Prest.
Mike feels it is important in his role as a Financial Planner to have the ability to explain often complex areas in a way people can understand. He gives advice on all aspects of Financial Planning, from investing, helping clients achieve their goals for retirement, tax efficiency, together with estate planning and preserving a client’s wealth for future generations.
Mike’s two young daughters keep him and his wife occupied, and in his spare time he enjoys playing and listening to a wide range of music and he enjoys cooking for family and friends. Mike is a Manchester City supporter, a somewhat more enjoyable experience than it used to be!
Following his graduation from De Montfort University where he achieved a 2:1 BA Hons degree in Business and Management, Ash pursued his interest of financial planning and began working in Financial Services immediately.
Ash has completed numerous examinations as he strives to develop his knowledge; attaining the credited Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in 2016, amongst other examinations. He is also a member of the Society of Mortgage Professionals.
Ash plans to continue his professional development and aspires to achieve Chartered Financial Planner status.
He commits much of his spare time to sports; whether that be football (playing in an amateur league or being entertained by Manchester United) or keeping himself fit in the gym. He also enjoys socialising with friends and family.
Simon is Practice and Operations Manager at Prest Financial Planning, responsible for the smooth running of all aspects of the business. He joined Prest in 2018 following 14 years in a similar role at another firm of financial planners, prior to which he held financial based roles in a variety of businesses across different industry sectors.
Outside of work Simon is a keen golfer, hill walker and – much to Chief Executive Graham Prest’s relief – a Manchester United supporter. He lives in Stockport with his wife and two children.
Lisa’s financial services background spans over 20 years, having worked for 2 other Independent Financial Adviser firms and also Standard Life Assurance in Manchester. Lisa joined her husband, Mark, at Prest Financial Planning in 2010 and now holds a key position as our Financial Planning Administration Team Leader. When not at work, Lisa enjoys walking, running (well, jogging is probably more accurate!) and seeing as much of the world as possible!
Kath has been with Prest Financial Planning since 2000 when she took on the part-time role as Receptionist. This soon led to a full time position and after 15 years Kath still enjoys the role immensely. Prior to this, Kath was a secretary working for the well-known engineering company Mather & Platt followed by a much enjoyed position in the exhibitions business before leaving to bring up her 2 children. When not at work Kath enjoys the outdoor life and can often be found walking in the peak district or trying out her cooking skills in the kitchen.
Zoe joined Prest Financial Planning in 2011, having previously worked for the Cheshire Building Society and Santander. Since joining Prest, Zoe’s been focused on her studies and has achieved the Diploma in Financial Planning. Zoe plans to continue her professional development and is now working towards Chartered status.
Zoe is the proud Mum of twin boys and enjoys her spare time with friends and family. She is also an avid Man United supporter!
Dave joined the Prest team in July 2018. He began his career in financial services with Royal London in 1999 where he began studying towards his financial services qualifications and has attained Diploma status. He has worked in a variety of roles in the industry from administration, compliance to paraplanning. Dave enjoys spending his spare time with his family and, when he gets the opportunity, he also enjoys watching football and motorsport.
Lianne joined Prest Financial Planning in June 2013, having worked for The Bank of New York and TD Direct Investing in Manchester city centre for 7 years. During her time at The Bank of New York, Lianne completed a BA Hons degree in Financial Services studying part time at Manchester Metropolitan University. Since joining Prest’s, Lianne’s career soon progressed and she joined our Paraplanning Team in 2016, where she’s now Team Leader. Lianne has achieved the Diploma in Financial Planning and Certificate in Financial Services. In her spare time, Lianne enjoys running, going to the gym and socialising with family and friends. She’s also a very proud Mum to her beautiful daughter, Leah.
Helen joined the Prest team in the summer of 2006 having previously worked for an IFA firm in Manchester. Outside of work, Helen is kept very busy with two young children and a dog. Helen enjoys caravanning in Anglesey, long wintery walks and socialising with family and friends.
Emma has worked in financial services for 20 years, starting her career straight from school as a junior administrator for a local building society in Cumbria and progressing to become a senior administrator with another firm. Emma relocated to Manchester in 2009 and worked alongside one adviser as her sole support staff until joining the Prest family in July 2018. In her spare time Emma enjoys watching various sports including cricket, football and Formula One, and spending time with family and friends.
Hayley is the Daughter of our MD, Graham Prest, and the third generation of the Prest family to work within the business. Hayley joined the firm in February 2010 following her return from travelling Australia and the West Coast of Canada. Prior to this, Hayley started her career in financial services working for Alliance & Leicester (now Santander) after graduating from University in Leeds where she gained a BA (Hons) degree in English Literature. Hayley lives in Yorkshire with her fiancé Dan so you’ll find her here working on their house renovation, walking her dog or with her head in a Harry Potter book!
Kathryn has worked in financial services for over 20 years, having previously worked for Friends Provident and AXA in Manchester before joining Prest Financial Planning in 2007. Kathryn achieved the Diploma in Financial Planning in May 2014. Outside of work, Kathryn enjoys watching a variety of sports (particularly football and motor racing), country walks and travelling abroad.
Heidi started her career in Financial Services with Prudential in 1997 and gained her Financial Planning Certificate in 2001. She then worked for an IFA firm in Macclesfield in 2004, before joining the Prest team in 2012. Outside of work, Heidi is kept very busy with her two children and enjoys going to the gym and socialising with family and friends.
Beth has five years’ experience working within financial services, having previously worked for an Investment Manager in Manchester and then an Independent Financial Adviser in Glossop, before joining Prest in 2018. Beth is currently working towards the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Beth lives with her husband in Stockport and in her spare time enjoys working on her garden, walking in the Peak District and baking.
Shelby joined Prest Financial Planning in June 2018, having previously worked for Nationwide Building Society for eight years. She has, throughout her career, had a keen interest in financial planning and was attracted to Prest by the firm’s strong family ethos. Shelby comes from the Stockport area and, in her spare time, enjoys spending time with her friends and family, often cooking for them, and socialising.
Michele previously worked for NatWest bank for eight years before leaving to have children. Michele then went on to work for a Management Consultancy Company, and then joined Prest Financial Planning as an Administrator in May 2001. When not at work, Michele enjoys spending time with friends and family, gardening, walking her dog and reading.
